Originally had this in 3 volumes and gave it away when I had a clear-out. Always regretted that, so pleased to have found this omnibus edition. Sounds a if it's intended for the new cook, but lots of useful info for the more experienced - including things like explaining the difference between fromage frais, creme fraiche, and mascarpone. Plenty of good recipes and advice on buying kitchen equipment.

This is the woman who taught the nation to cook again. Her television programmes became a "must watch" and if she recommended certain ingredients, it was guaranteed that the supermarkets would be sold out within days. Sadly she no longer does television as when last invited to do so turned down the invitation because she refused to describe herself as a chef but rather as a cook because she despises the celebrity chefs idea which is entertainment rather than cooking. A must buy.
