Ed Norton plays the part of the "lost cowboy" well. Very believeabe, you start to empathise with his character and almost fall in love with the idea of this loveable rogue. The film itself would have benefited from an edit, as it really does go on, and on. Drama builds up, but so does a tiny bit of boredom as you see where this film is headed and would like to get there a bit sooner. Overall a really good, well acted film, but a film you'll probably only see once.

This film had both good and bad points. The good points: the acting was excellent, Edward Norton is always great and the musical score was very moving. The bad points: the pacing seemed a bit slow at times and the ending was a bit of a let down as well. The whole "western film" set scene was wired and at first I thought Harland was dreaming it up. Very odd! I'm sure some people will love this film and it might be worth watching once, but for me one viewing was enough.
A jobless drifter with fantasies of being a cowboy arrives in a Los Angeles suburb and a teenage girl and her kid brother are mesmerised by his charisma. But as they discover, there is a very dark side to this enigmatic man. Class performances from Edward Norton and Evan Rachel Wood.
i saw this film on tv a while ago and had to get a copy, its a really endearing film and the main character harlan is not what he seems.yet hes a character that although does bad things you kind of feel sorry for him.probably a film more for the girls but its not a heavy chick flick.
