80's rock only harder and faster. Well worth a listen or two. The guitar solos and amazinly fast drumming certainly make up for some of the lyrics.
In a metal scene plagued by anger ridden bands intent on unleashing as much vocal destruction as possible it's almost a relief to hear melodic high powered vocals, such as the case with the five-piece power metal outfit from the UK. I first saw a video for their now most famous hit 'Through The Fire And the flames' on Scuzz music tv, and was instantly taken in. I decided to buy Inhuman Rampage soon after. What I like about Dragonforce is the way they lay melodic and sometimes operatic vocals over piercing twin guitars and a double bass drum beat. As with most power metal bands the keyboard and synthesiser pieces are well put together, intermingling with the other musical elements to create an unorthadox if not thoroughly enjoyable experience. Another quality I enjoyed were the at times nonsensical fantasy lyrics, such as 'flying over shadow mountains blazing with power,' lines that seem to come straight out of a Final Fantasy fan fiction story. Rather than rag on these for being so unbelievably geeky I found them refreshingly new in a stereotyped metal scene. Qualities I didn't like were scarce, but one thing I found a turn off was that some of the songs seemed to have no direction, in some cases a guitar solo would come out of nowhere, but besides that tiny little detail theres not much i'd say i disliked about this album. My advice would be any fans of power metal, unorthadox thrashcore or metal fans who just fancy something a little bit different should definently buy this album. I may also warn fans of conventional metal to stay away, this may not be to their tastes.Read full review
I heard Dragonforce playing on Kerrang sky TV and was blown away by the speed of the music so I bought the CD Inhuman Rampage to check it out for myself. The majority of the CD is quite fast but there are a couple of ballad type songs that slow the pace down. Personally I would of liked it to have been full on as I'm a metal fan but it is still worth buying if you want something different in your collection.
WOW! this album is amazing, if you enjoy extremely fast music then this is for you! Herman and Sam are the 2 fastest guitarists i have ever heard in my life and this goes perfect with the speed of keyboards and drums aswell as the amazing wailing vocals. A classic in the making... bringing back the old days of metal!!!! The song that has stood out to me so far is Trail of broken hearts, this is because it is a lot different to the other although the guitaring is not as fast in this track it is amazing still. Buy This! .. You will love it!
This is the third DragonForce album which i have bought and i tell you that they just keep on getting better and better. I think that this is by far the best of their albums and with Herman Li's and Sam Totman's battle of the riffs on every single song it could not get any better. Then again, no album would be complete without lyrics which ZP Theart provides magic with. After being a fan of metal for many years now and supporting British Metallers to the max, i can safely say that this ranks right up at the top with the likes of Iron Maiden and Metallica. I would highly recommend buying this album if you're into nothing but endless guitar solos and flaming lyrics.
