Although these two Marx Brothers films are from the 1930's - and so very dated by todays' standards. Nevertheless, some of the comedy routines are still priceless and their narrative was all about deflating the pomposity of the stiff characters in their films - notably Margaret Dumont who took it all well - especially from the fast talking and debunking Groucho. Dated it may be but still very very funny.

A bit old fashioned. Slow paced. Mild humour.

You have to see it to appreciate it... It's as simple as that. Brilliantly funny.

Let's get some things clear- this film does not contain car chases, scenes of a sexual nature or any bad language; no instead this fast moving piece of early 20th Century comedy is laugh-a-minute fun for all the family (although younger viewers are unlikely to get the jokes). Set in the fictional land of Freedonia (Land of the Free), the Marx brothers really go to town on this film, and use an extraordinary blend of witty put-downs and slapstick to entertain the audience. Yet when you look deeper into the film there is a certain satirical element which is just as fresh today as when it was first released. I would strongly recommend this film to anyone who is a bit of a film buff or who just enjoys a good laugh!
