This book is an excellent source/record of just about everything and anything that can be done with rope or cord and the history behind it. As instructional material however (which was my main purpose in purchase) it is severley lagging. Both the verbal descriptions and photos are of poor quality and for someone who is fairly well versed in tying (myself) is difficult to follow, though the author repeatedly claims otherwise. It claims to be and encyclopedia though and not a how-to guide to what instuction there is or isn't doesn't matter much in that respect. For the purpose of it's writting it's excellent but not the book for those who want instruction.
this book is described with quotes from the time it was printed and really it has alot of knots and plaits (alot of plaits) but the pictures were very pooro quality and in black and white. the instructions for the knots are not the best. over all if a i had payed more than what i did i would have been unsatisfied, but it will bee nothing more than a reference in my library. because as an instructional or how to book it is not good and deffinetly not for the beginer ! ! it has some use full information but only to the experienced braider or rope worker. over all i would not reccomend it to beginners but maybe if your an avid braider or you like to collect books on the subject it migth be ok.
The book I go to to tye fancy knots.
