Jin Pyn Lee is a freelance designer, a filmmaker, and a writer. She and five other amateur filmmakers were chosen by Animal Planet from among 34,000 applicants worldwide to participate in the television series Unearthed. Her experience observing and filming the elephants of the Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa inspired The Elephant and the Tree.
