To Summarise, its not a bad film just decidedly average. When you consider that the content is based on a true story about a psychotic deviant who is far from the average human being, I do not think this portrayal does the killer or those in pursuit of him any justice nor are they particularly convincing in their character roles. Luckily its not an over the top gore fest and focuses on the characters more so than the gruesome misdoings of the psychopath but to such a diluted extent that you barely connect with any of them. The film also jumps around too much and isn’t focused in any particular direction (perhaps it's because they are cramming 8 years worth of content into 2 hours). Ultimately it also seems to have had a lot of fictitious content added, that nullifies the reality of the story so that’s its reiteration seems more of a work of fiction than an account of what happened which would have been a far more tangible focal point. If you want to see a film based on the same notorious Rostov Ripper watch Citizen X instead its terrifying and the characters feel very reel indeed a 4.5/5 in my opinion - If you’ve already seen it you wont find anything new here! Personal favourites of this genre are: The Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, Zodiac, Citizen x and Antibodies. - You wont sleep afterwards - With Evilenko you may well sleep during it! I would personally rate it a 2.5/5Read full review
This is a film that can be disturbing to watch in places especailly as you know it is a true story but it is one of those films that draw you in. It is quite low budget but the acting etc is good. Would recommend it to others.
