I first read this book in 1991 and I can honestly say it opened my eyes to all forms of animal cruelty from the smallest (snails) to the one of the larger farm animals (cows) and what they endure so that humans can benefit from their existence. I for one knew bits about the dairy industry but only thought I would give up meat. After 6 months of just not eating any meat or fish I went vegan and I haven't looked back. Now there are 600,000 vegans in the uk. When I started there were just 250,000. It's getting better eating out and most coffee shops have milk alternatives. I couldn't contribute to abuse any longer. This book certainly helped make up my mind. Thank you for this. I read today that Audrey Eyton had died. I did write to thank her for this book a few years ago and got a lovely reply. Thank you for changing my diet.Read full review
