Took has a good soft grip feel. Very sharp. Lock/unlock was a little stiff but 2 drops of oil and now easy to use.

Do your homework on this one and that is difficult to do ;) This model 7943 isn't what I expected it to be. I find my old model 9109 to be far easier to use. Review the Fiskars web site for yourself before deciding. Unfortunately the web site does not tell the true size of the item. The 7943 (8 3/8") is a little shorter overall than the 9109 (8 5/8"). 7943 blade cutter is 2" vs 9109 2 1/2". I find the grip of the 9109 much more comfortable. The Fiskar guide shows both able to cut up to 5/8" branches. I feel the larger blade makes it easier to use on those 5/8" or a little larger. Keep the blade clean (some cuts will gum up the blade after the protective coating wears off) Keep the pruner perpendicular to the object being cut else the blades may separate enough to be troublesome. My 9109 separated this way and became very troublesome to use. I suspect all models are suspect to this problem. The blade lock on my 9109 defected. My 7943 is new (came with small defect on inside of top and bottom grips); time will tell. Possibly warranty covers this if you foot the return shipping costs to Fiskars ;) Looking over the Fiskars descriptions after my purchase, I decided I would rate the various models in this order (YMMV): Usefulness Cost Note 7944 $$ for medium to large hands 9116 $$$ 9109 $$ 7943 $ for small to medium handsRead full review
