Remember that maxim 'all that glitters is not gold'? Rarely has it been so appropriate as here. What this CD contains are inferior performances of works that have received far superior recordings elsewhere. Only one original single is included - Man Of The World - which in any case is available on numerous other collections. Green Manalishi was recorded in a shoebox and half the guitars are missing. World In Harmony is not the splendid 'b' side of that single but an unfinished backing track without the other guitars. Oh Well is a live recording (although not marked as such) of truly abysmal quality. I could continue but I'd rather go out and play cricket - in fact, watching grass grow or paint dry would be preferable to enduring the mess that constitutes this wretched release that has evidently been designed to cash in on the recent fashion for classic British rock from the 1960s and 1970s. Unfortunately I suspect the record company will make a fair amount of money from this since it appears to collect together some tracks previously unavailable on CD (such as the original single version of World In Harmony). This CD must be avoided - there are far better and more worthy compilations to be found elsewhere. Andy Martin (courtesy of UNIT).Read full review
