When Derek William Dick writes a studio album, it's best that we all take note and listen carefully to it. For many, the original voice of Marillion, and since 1990 a solo act, Fish (as he is always known) has made loads of live albums (usually doubles) but a select few studio albums. This 1999 collection of seven songs includes 'Plague of Ghosts' as track 7 - itself a six-track medley (so 12 songs in total). From the first bars on the piano of opening track 'Tumbledown', you know you're going to like this ensemble of new songs. Rapid succession of great tracks follow with Mission Statement, Incomplete and Tilted Cross lead up to the crowd-pleasing Faithhealer from the live shows. Track 6 is Rites of Passage, and then into the finale of Track 7 'Plague of Ghosts'. This is a suite of great songs (remember Misplaced Childhood?), and at almost 25 minutes in length, makes the whole thing well worth the money. Buy it from the fanclub website (find it on Google), and you can usually have it signed too. Fish - at the top of his game... happy listening.Read full review
