I love how easy it is to switch between strimmer and edge cutter, and with the large safety board feel confident that I am less likely to get hit with any stone, bark etc that the strimmer may hit up. Along with this and it's lightweight it is so easy to use and makes the job a pleasure.

I have had one of these for 10 years now and they are brilliant at edging a lawn. They are also good at strimming especially around trees and upto walls or fencing although the holding position is more upright and vertical. That position lends itself much better for edging as you can see right down to the edge rather than a metre away like most other machines. That's the first advantage but the second is that when you turn the cutting head at the touch of a button, you have a roller that rolls along your grass which is better then a wheel which is wobbly and you get a small protruding plastic arrow sticking either side of the guard to guide along the very edge of grass. I have just bought 2 new ones for households whose gardens I do and these arrows aren't white on the newer model which makes them less visible. I have just put a speck of white paint on each arrow to make them stand out. I have a contoured lawn both round and straight and it edges better than shears. I changed the line in the spoil to prevent the line breaking on the odd stone or kerb edge etc All the bargain shops sell this and 1.5 to 2mm is good. In summary these are brilliant for any sized garden for edging and strimming around trees and up to hard borders. They are not for garden clearances or brambles and anything with stems thicker than a couple of mm like grass. The lead is long enough for a large lawn but easy to ug in to an extension anyway. The lead doesn't get in the way if your lawn has no instructions as you work around in either direction back to your start position. I have tried 3 cordless strimmers which are OK but not as powerful as this Flymo and all are too far away from your body. They may have guides but there no good if you can't see down to the edge and none had rollers like this which is simply the best. For the price, this is an excellent machine. Don't let line snapping put you off. All strimmers lines snap but this one is quite easy to get more line out. I refill my spools with better quality lines but you can just buy new spools which works out dearer.Read full review
