Had almost forgotten how great this album was, not having played my vinyl for years. Songs and production are superlative and it evokes the 70s brilliantly. Welcome back, my old friend.

Every generation has their defining moments in music. Mine was the late 70's and the Kings of my particular world (along with Steel Pulse, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Stiff Little Fingers, The Specials and Ian Dury) were LKJ, Michael Smith and other "honorary dub poets" like John Cooper Clarke. Dub poetry captured the spirit of the times with often bleak vocals over catchy dub rhythms that you could either appreciate as relevant (at the time) political statements of harassment or as the fresh reggae sound that it undoubtedly was. "Want fi goh rave" was one of those experiences that doesn't seem to happen anymore - where you stand in a record shop, hear a song and decide that your life will have no meaning unless you leave the shop with that record. An overstatement maybe or a reaction to all of the faceless pop of the mid 70's and the harsh realities of those times? Who knows! But what I do know is that anyone who grew up in those times with this music will SERIOUSLY not be disappointed on re-engaging with this album, this artist and those days. Being a teenager in the 70's makes me old now but as a soundtrack to a youth the music from then still does it for me!Read full review
