I love cricket and Miller is a name that conjures up a Botham-like mist from the past (I never saw Miller play). This autobiography is 60-years-old but - no exaggeration - it could have been written yesterday, such is the relaxed, almost casual, yet focused, style. The book was a joy to read. Following a brief coverage of his early life, Miller offers a stream of wonderful anecdotes, stories, critiques and opinions about cricket and cricketers around the world, from situations he witnessed during his illustrious career. Since my retirement six years ago, I have read and fully digested many books on cricket, and - hand on heart - this was my best read so far by a country mile. Thought provoking, stimulating, from inside the dressing room, on the field of play, the hotels, the bars, palaces - there's so much to take in, especially on cricket's moral ground, I could read it again tomorrow and find new implications and nuances I hadn't spotted before. Brilliant.Read full review
