Substantial enough, but not by using the handles. Take 20 sheets of crumpled tabloid newspaper, press into a bucket, about half a litre of boiling water and warm tap water until soaked. This will pulp very quickly. Stir with wooden spoon, press into the strainer up to one inch below the top then put in the squeezer. Put on solid outdoor surface. Place feet on squeezer, gradually applying pressure until both feet are on the squeezer. Count 15, then invert the whole system until water is expelled. Remove squeezer, lift out strainer, eject paper block onto thick newspaper. Make 3 or 4 blocks. Cover with plenty of papers and weight down. I use a butchers block. Leave 12 hours and set to dry. This may may make some time. You can mix sawdust with the pulp also. Best made during warm months for the following winter.Read full review

It's cheap and you can tell. You don't get much leverage to compress the block, it's messy, and you can feel the metal bending. It works but if you are planning to makes these bricks regularly spend a decent amount of money and make the job a lot easier

Pros : Good value for the money. Small and light. Stores conveniently. Cons : The push handles are not steardy enough for the requirements and get deformed a bit if not used with proper caution. Not as easy to off load the compressed log.

After I bought it I thought i made a mistake, that it won't help me, but once i received the brick maker I prepared my first 3 bricks and I was astonished how simple it was to use it and how well the bricks burned. The pressure generated was quite high, I used my arms first but after a few tries I even stepped on the handles and all went smooth.

Haven't burnt anything yet as they're still drying out but the system works. However you need to wear gloves when making blocks as the levers are quite thin and dig into the palms of the hands
