This is a great walkabout lens. It may not be as sharp or have the wide aperture of the Fuji Primes, but image quality is very good and the OIS enables surprisingly slow shutter speeds to be used when handheld. Weather resistance is a bonus too. The focal range saves a lot of lens swapping.

The price for new lens is bizzare - 900$. This is not a [near] thousand dollars lens. Zoom is stiff and uneven. Consequently, some clunking at the mount develops. Average image quality, requires significant ppst processing to achieve high IQ. I think this is, at most, $500 lens (tops).

Most Fuji lenses are made in Japan and are very consistent in quality. However this and the XC lenses are made in China. I have tested and owned two of these 18-135 zooms. The first was very good and a perfect one lens solution. The stabilisation is exceptional. I am struggling as I get older to hold things steady but it was no problem with this lens. However I needed primes and sold it. Recently another sample came my way and was so blindingly sharp I was tempted to dump my primes. So the moral is test the lens first you will be very happy with this excellent lens but if you happen to get one built to the exacting standards of Fuji you will be thrilled with the results.
