This is the second HS50EXR that I've owned. The first was bought new in 2013 and I was always very pleased with it. However after nearly ten years and tens of thousands of photos, many functions have ceased to operate as they should. The identical replacement bought recently on eBay is pleasingly in practically new condition. It was also accompanied by a useful hard copy handbook (something its predecessor didn't come with) which has informed me about one or two functions I was never aware of! The camera behaves well with all the familiar functions of the old one fully operative. I like the flexibility of the optical zoom (24mm - 1000mm equivalent). Admittedly, whilst the image quality is pretty good through most of the zoom range, it becomes a little compromised at the top end (unsurprisingly). However, it is a useful, lightweight and convenient camera that does without the weight and complexity of DSLR and mirrorless models that require a multiplicity of different lenses.Read full review

This camera is for people who like to take quality pictures without all the hassle of a Dsrl. Very easy to use with a superb zoom. I take mostly wild life pictures, both close up & at the full maximum of the zoom & find the image quality very good for my needs. The camera has many settings, including video. Other people will review all the technical side to the camera, I just love using it! Put a quality sdhc card in it & surprize your self with the results. Cant recomend this camera highly enough.

I used one of these cameras for 5 yrs and in that time produced many excelent prints and PDI’s that did very well in club and pagb competitions. I only shot and displayed exactly as taken with no computer/photoshop intrusion as i only have an ipad. Never had a low light focussing problem some people report, its all about using the right iso setting and an extreem pro sd card. I find the shutter responce and fucussing delay non existant unlike many slr. My friends use Cannon / Nikon top end amatuer range slr’s and when i occasionaly use them i find the viewfinder not so good as mine also the shutter/focussing delay seems to take forever sometimes.. Im a retd. GP professional and press photographer and this fuji hs50 would be definatly in my kit if wanted to go to work again

I have one of these cameras with over 2 yrs now , a nice camera , very impressive, lots of features as in pictures taking modes. 42x optical zoom lense which brings one very close up to their object as in picture taking . A great out door camera for any situation but this is where this camera falls at the last post !!! ...Light !!!...in low light conditions it fails to focus , as most pictures are out of focus and also under exposed. .. As most of us use our camera indoor , this camera cannot compensate for low light like more of the big brands like Nikon , canon ,Pentax , Sony , and a few more to mention . Also it has full HD video recording , again is super in good light but again has a problem in focussing in low light conditions !! ...I was at a family wedding recently and it was so so annoying . ..as it left me down big time . Fujifilm haven't mastered the light problem with these bridge cameras yet.... Other than that a great camera for outdoor photos . I suppose you pay for what you get !....as buying a camera that has mastered this problem will cost you at leas 3 times the price of this camera. ...Hope this helps you in deciding whether you want a camera for all situations or one that's gets you bye with a bit of extra zoom .Read full review
