Most headphone amps are also something else these days - DAC, preamp for example, but if you just want an excellent value headphone amp which sounds very real, this is the one. The caveat here is that the basic wallwart PSU should be regarded as "to get you started". The PSU1 is an essential upgrade, which you should ideally budget for in the initial purchase. I happen to have a PSU1, having made the expensive but very beneficial upgrade to Russ Andrews "Power Supplier" to feed my GSP Revelation M. The Novo is a brilliant device and still excellent value for money with the PSU1. I use it for monitoring recordings rather than casual listening. It is a pleasure to use and, essentially, it is unfatiguing. I use Sennheiser HD595s but am now considering HD650s to improve things further. Thoroughly recommended (with the PSU1!). Read full review

Excellent headphone amp.Brings out the detail in music even on low bitrate mp3 music.Bass is very firm and undistorted, while mids are very well defined.Highs are perfect and not pushy creating a pleasant balance. Stagesound is very good in particular with jazz or guitar. I listen to all types of music, including deep house, jazz, spanish guitar to rock music. This amp is superb with no distortion and only using half volume. I would have given it 5 star rating, but for the fact that there is no on/off switch on the unit.
I bought this headphone amp because my amp doesn't have a headphone socket.I have a pair of Sennheiser HD580 which are really good but were gathering dust.I had been contemplating getting the Graham Slee Novo kit which is £144 but when this unit came onto Ebay it was a no brainer I won it for a bargain price and it was absolutely mint. It works great with my hi-fi and I even upgraded the headphone lead with one from Ebay through Hi-fi Spot. The Novo is easy to use , very well made and ideal as an upgrade for many amps that even have a headphone socket. Using the link through sockets means you don't lose the spare output socket from your amp and can loop through. For the money I don't think there is anything to touch it under £500.A veritable bargain.
Great headphone amp. Very a quiet between songs. Has good stereo image, good bass, treble is clean. I like this amp. Comparable to a McIntosh premplifier.
