Reasonably easy to use. I got it for peace of mind so that I can check exactly where I am with a Grid Reference. It is a bit fiddly to use. Putting in Waypoints manually is long-winded. There are not enough 'letter-spaces' (6 I think) to name Waypoints. To enter Grid References I had to buy a separate book (GPS for Walkers by Clive Thomas)as the manual supplied with it didn't tell you how to do it! I have not been on the web site to see if there are useful hints/tips. I have not been on web sites to try and upload/download routes/Waypoints etc. Appreciate that the compass is awkward to use whilst walking. However, it WILL get you to you destination (if you've entered Grid Ref. or previously saved it as a Waypoint). Also appreciate that it points to your 'saved' destination in a straight line. You would have to get a far more expensive GPS if you wanted to see where you were on a map display. The ones you can upload onto this machine are not in colour and not very good. It locks on to satellites VERY quickly. It hangs around my neck most of the time and there is always a sufficient signal. I have only used mine for walking. However, it would also be ideal for canoeists/Kyakers/sailors/paramotorists/microlighters/hangliders etc. Mountain bikers may want to consider something else; this is because it will only show Waypoints/Destination in a straight line. It will not show you the path/track you should be following. I like it; and as a back up to a good old fashioned map and compass, you can't go wrong. Hope this helps you make in informed decision.Read full review
Have been using it for about 8 months now and we're happy with it. We brought it second hand and its working perfectly. I think the way in which you enter gps points you want to go to is over complicated but once you get used to it then its not a problem. It is a basic gps, it doesn't have a colour screen or a road map but for what we want it for (Geocaching) its perfect. We spent a little extra and got a usb cable for it so we could download gps points directly to it to save us having to type them in once were out in the forest/ moors/ fields. However, having tried this feature the gps doesn't have enough characters to save the full name (it only gives you 6) so you end up with all you gps points being called the same thing! Rather complicated. We paid about £40 for the gps and the usb cable, both second hand. Overall we are very happy with this gps. If all you need is something to tell you where you are or to point you in the right direction this is perfect.Read full review
I bought this to replace the same model I lost. It functions well under trees, unlike its predecessor. As I only want "position", "go to" and "distance" functions, it is ideal and relatively uncomplicated to use. The only downside is the backlight is not very bright.

I bought this Garmin to join in the latest Geocaching game which started in the USA about 10 years ago. It gets me out and about in the countryside finding tracks and going to places I wouldnt normally have gone . It is sturdy and easy to use and also waterproof. The buttons are a bit stiff to press for my older fingers. It does not compare to the latest fantastic phones with GPS servuices but is a lot cheaper and no monthly fee.
As for using this fine device, it is pretty simple! Both the buttons and the display are quite comfortable to be used. As for the screen light, you’ll be able to read it both in the light and in the dark. Another great feature about the device is that weather conditions are not a problem for it – the eTrex H is IPX7 is water resistant, thus being usable after being put into the water.
