Graham Coxon has deliverd a fantastic lo-fi punk album with elements of metal floating about it's air waves. Coxon has proved that he is not all indie acoustics and bit pop riffs with his hard and heavy detuned guitars coencided with his raw british vocals. The Golden D is Graham Coxons' second album which was released in 2000, and in my opinion way ahead of it's time. The album starts of with Jamie Thomas a perfect example of a good punk song in the modern age. Other songs like this include The Fear and Fags and Failure. The heavier songs on the album is as close as you are going to get to a metal/indie cross over, My Idea of Hell and Leave Me Alone are some amonge these. The Intrumentals on The Golden D, Satan I Gratan and Oochy Woochy, are the experimental tracks that Coxon has composed. A rather detached sound from anything he has done befor. I bought this album because I wanted to listen to something diffrent and I am pleased to say that I have. The Golden D is a mish mash of Heavy and Melodic , Slow and Fast, Angry and Happy which I enjoy thorughly.Read full review
