Just a glorified lighter holder. tried it out on some heatshrink and it really wasn’t great , I was after something to replace a heat gun but this way way off the mark. The condition was new and was just the performance that let it down. Value wise it was cheap enough just not good enough for what I needed.

For melting solder in solder connectors you need to the nozzle or wire moving, otherwise the insulation burns. This is not very easy if you're joining wires in confined spaces, where a soldering iron would be better, as it delivers a point of heat directly to the solder.
