What could I say about this movie. It will never make or get the attention of say close encounters or any other ufo, alien movies, but I think it still holds it's own.Sure the acting is B-movie,and sound is poor, and the video can seem squinty sometimes, but overall, the story is well enough to keep you through the end.Darren McGavin is his usual self in these kinds of movies.I kept thinking he would break out into his night stalker character. He brings his role across very well though.Robert Vaughn is...well,Robert Vaughn.Keeping with the government secret don't tell the world kind'a thing.Yeah, okay,so his character is predictable, but who cares!!This is a good B-movie,I think you will enjoy it.Don't forget to read the disclaimer at the beginning of the movie,as that will set the tone for the story.Read full review
A favorite movie of mine, slightly cheesy in an 80's kinda way. I was happy to find it on dvd. The disc was obviously mastered from either older film stock or VHS; the video is a bit grainy and the sound is def not hifi. But I'll take a bit less along those lines to have a copy. You just can't find this too many places and if you really enjoy a particular movie, then it's well worth it. My wife pokes fun at my "junk food scifi habit".
Well I bought this film out of nostalgia, remembered that it was a cool movie when I was a kid...well kids do enjoy some dumb things. The acting, the "effects" and production "value" are very low/no budget. The story is fairly basic, astronauts encounter a UFO when deploying a satellite in earth orbit and once the satellite crashes into it, the fun begins. Typical governement conspiracy/cover-up, car chases, secret research facilities, alien revelations and shadowey men in suits ensue. The movie looks, feels and plays like a made for TV movie and if that was the case then I could understand it's level of cheese, but this was a theatre release that they charged moviegoers money for. I paid $12 for this DVD and from the first 2 seconds of the DVD menu I knew I'd flushed that $12 down the toilet. Oh well, live, learn & flush.Read full review
I bought this movie as it was referred to specifically (along with Whitley Strieber's book 'Majestic') by a guest on Larry Pippin internet show. He appeared disguised and as "Mr. X" by the host. This person claims to have been an archivist for a military contractor of the US government. Under secret clearances his job was to file top secret documents. In this capacity he came to realize UFOs and aliens are in fact real. He states that this movie, Hanger 18, is very close in detail to a real incident that he archived. He believes that one of the people involved with the real incident probably was involved with the movie in some way. It rings true. Listen for yourself. I give credence to this and other such reports as I know the UFO experience is real, as I saw one fairly close myself. No leap of faith, just fact. Whether you believe in the issue or not, it is still an entertaining movie. Buy and enjoy. PS I am not connected in any way with any of the above, other than in interest.Read full review
