An action packed thriller of a movie, with rain, water and flood hugely overdone. Notice sometimes actors emerging from the water, and yet they are bone dry, not a drop of water on them ! A hiccup in CGI (computer generated imaging)where the water has been added post production. It is a childrens film really, not one that a serious adult could believe. Morgan Freeman does well, as ever, and worth buying if only to see his performance.
Bought because I like Morgan Freeman..... good value purchase, although I wasn't so impressed by the movie itself, Story line was OK but a bit OTT, I found it hard to believe that a town could get so flooded and not have half decent emergency plans, corruption, destruction and double crossing... as well as flooding, if you like that sort thing, then watch this.
Bought it to replace video. Excellent thriller with stellar performances by Morgan Freeman AND Christian Slater. Exciting, tense and pacy and my does it rain or does it rain?
Torrential rains and floods force local sheriff (Randy Quaid) and town residents of Huntingburg to evacuate and abandon the town. Tension mounts when an armoured car, sent to transport $3 million from local banks, breaks down and drivers, Tom (Christian Slater) and his Uncle Charlie (Ed Asner), find themselves stranded. Before they know it they are surrounded by a suspicious crew led by Jim (Morgan Freeman). Without warning the crew opens fire and the chase is on. Tom wades his way through thigh-deep waters with the $3 million in tow, Jim is determined to find Tom and the money. The action is non-stop and so is the rain...
I was thrilled to find this film was in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the fighting and hows it done it was so amazing on how they done i was very impressed. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included.
