Pros: Very easy to use and set up. Large buttons on keyboard. Old technology but it does the job. Talks in English not tech jargon. Cons: Quite heavy.

It's all about quality. I had an HTC Desire Z as my first smartphone, and it lasted me until last October. I loved it and I felt no need to replace it until I broke it. Reasoning that one smartphone is as good as another and not being affluent enough to push the boat right out, I invested in another leading brand for a change. How wrong I was! So after a month of fighting this new phone, and having spent my money, I went for a used HTC Desire HD that was appealingly cheap and never looked back. It is better than my old Z because it has a larger screen and if I ignore the slightly dodgy on/off and volume buttons and slight chip in the screen (which is easy to do) I find myself right at home with it as it has that reassuring quality metal feel about it. It is a relief to be back with a phone that just does what I want without fuss and is reliable, even the battery still lasts the day with heavy use, so I won't have to buy a new one for a while. After this experience, I now fully appreciate the high quality of HTC and won't stray again, I have discovered that it is better to have second-hand quality than new inferior stuff that causes more problems than it solves.Read full review
