Trying to understand it
Confused with the operation of it, it was to replace an older Humax which was so easy to use I find this one bewildering, it must be my age. The product it's self is very good and the picture quality much improved. I will get there in the end and wonder what all the fuss was about. The service l received was very good and the price was good. It had all the cables, instruction book and remote control with batteries. Not that great
I bought this for the Freeview Play facility and whilst Humax boxes are normally very good this one isn't. The build quality is good as you'd expect but what lets this down is the TV guide and response from the remote. The TV guide is very poor compared to Youview and the remote response time is frustratingly slow. Gone is the little TV screen in the guide and also the info button on the remote to get program information. Navigating the TV guide is painfully slow and the feel isn't as polished. I pressed a remote button the other night 5 times before it responded and I'm running the latest firmware. The overall menus aren't really up to it, its clumsy to navigate and difficult at times to work out how to get certain features. Sort the TV guide and slow remote response out and this could be ... The Remote
The recorder is handy if needing to record more than two programmes at the same time. The fly in the ointment is the remote because having owned a previous Humax over the course of three years I required three remotes in total because the buttons are fickle. Humax it appears can not provide a decent remote and my Bush Recorder Remote beats it hands down as I've had it six years at least. Humax need to purchase a Bush Remote then take it apart and redesign their own. This Humax was purchased as a present (unfortunately) for Christmas and the reason I do not like it is because it sometimes requires hard pressure and sometimes it requires only normal pressure. Replace Virgin Sky or Talk Talk, Freeview all the way
I bought this box to replace a Virgin Tevo box. It does this very well and as a bonus it is a netflix device as well. The TV choice is the full freeview package with HD and the reason I wanted this box 1TB of storage for recording live TV. You can get it to record a hole series or a one off programme. Great piece off kit. It is also a great way of up grading an older TV into a smart TV as when it is connected to your internet router it has all the functionality of a smart TV without being tied to the manufacturers platform (Samsung TV etc)I bought this box to replace a Virgin Tevo box. Freeview freeway for any TV, watch or record.
Excellent product gives high quality Freeview channels to watch but also records whole series as well as individual programmes. The picture and sound quality is extremely good and easy to use. This also has the benefit of coming with all the catch up channels such as ITV hub, i-player, etc. so you can watch programmes missed or complete box sets.
