I make plastic models from kits and was having a problem with premier paints which scratched off very easily and heard about Hycote that seemed to work well. You need to prime the model parts when using acrylic paint otherwise it peels and scratches of really easy and quickly. It arrived and I had parts ready to be prime so followed the directions and it worked perfectly. I give 2 cotes and left the parts to dry completely and scratched one of the parts and to my amazement it didn't scratch off like other primers. If you are looking for a perfect primer for your model kits then I highly recommend this or at least give it a try as I don't intend using anything else and I've been making models for over 30 years, this will save me alot of money with it being a 400 ml spraypaint tin which cost a lot less than anything I've ever used before for smaller bottles or spraypaint. Model makersey please try this and you will not be disappointedRead full review

poorest primer ive ever used , although shook well it wouldn't spray evenly , spat out blobs of paint Tried other can and did exactly the same - would not recommend. I've used other hycote products and have been happy with the results this however falls way below the mark.

Used Hycote for years and its always great quality. Almost as good as using a HVLP unit. The paint supplied has good pigment and therefore just using a few light coats, you get the job done quickly. I find it sands nice and smooth with wet and dry and provides a decent base for many modern acrylic paints. It takes a little longer to harden but from experience ive found it worth the wait if you are only working on small jobs.

Another VG primer from Hycote. As a professional modeller, these paints come are very useful for my work; good sized can lasts longer, paint dries quickly (often about 20 minutes or less) ready for top coat if required or left as plain white with a degree of surface texture. With practice, a fairly rough finish can be achieved by increasing the distance between the can an the object. I have no connections in any way with Hycote, other than as a satisfied customer
