I bought this as a replacement for my acoustic non-electric that suffered a pulled bridge. . I wanted a mahogany finish with the built-in electronics. It had to sound good plugged in, and had to have some ability to be an acoustic player as well. So I had misgivings about the tone and volume unplugged, especially because the body was only 3-1/4" deep, and the guitar was all laminate, but I took the risk. I was delighted by this guitar....it came strung with D'addario strings, the action was excellent, and the sound was quite acceptable to me. Even though it has less volume than a guitar with full depth, there are some advantages. The tone and volume of the notes are quite consistent up and down the scale. No 'boom' in the bass or mid range, no dead trebles as heard (or not) on some large bodied guitars. A great back porch strummer, or finger-style guitar. The tone is great. Played thru a mike, it's as good or better than anything I've owned in the last 50 years. And plugged in (thru my Kustom Sienna 30) it's a dream...folk, jazz, what have you, it can do it. Excellent electronics, with built-in tuner that mutes the signal while tuning. Very well put together and finished. For the price, this one's a bargain. We'll see if it stands the test of time.Read full review

The price was right and it plays fairly well right out of the box.

I recently had my rt. shoulder rebuilt and it is difficult for me to get my arm around a large acoustic. This Ibanez is the perfect size for me to really enjoy playing. It isn't a D28 Martin, but sounds nice and is quite attractive if you like the darker woods, which I do.
