Inscribed Colonial Grammar Book Grammatical Institutes 1785 John Ash Leather

You are looking at a Colonial American grammar book, from the mid 18th century. This book has great provenance. Please read the details below.

This is "Grammatical Institutes: Or An Easy Introduction To Dr. Lowth's English Grammar:", by John Ash, L.L.D. This book was printed at Worcester by Isaiah Thomas, for E. Battelle, and W. Green, in Boston. This is the first American edition, in the remnants of the original binding. It is 3 1/4" X 5 3/4".

This book has a leather spine with wood boards. The front board is separated. The front board and title page both have "1787" written in pencil. The pages have corner and edge wear, and foxing. There are 196 pages.

One thing that makes this book very unique is the inscription. This book was inscribed by Moses Warren in 1787. Moses Warren was born in Northboro, Massachusette, in 1760. He enlisted in the Continental Army in 1776. Warren served for over three years, as both a private soldier and an officer. He also filled civic positions related to provisioning military forces in the field. He eventually moved to Warrensville, Ohio.

If you collect Colonial ephemera or early grammar books, this is a book you should add to your collection. This book has fantastic provenance, and dates back to the beginning of the United States of America. Buy now and don't let this unique treasure get away.
