I bought 2 of these for 2 new build machines about a month ago with the intention of overclocking them to get their full performance. They have both been running for 30 days 24/7 at full load without a glitch, a crash or any other problems! These are overclocked to 4.4GHz which I have found provided the most stable speed across the most programs, but if you're going to do this, I advise liquid cooling (currently using Antec coolers on both) to keep the temperatures down. I can't fault these processors and will be upgrading all my other machines to match!
As a reference, Ignore the Intel 2700k performance boasts of 5GHz overclocking with air, water cooling or liquid nitrogen. Having tried all cooling techniques with the 2700k there are two parts which are overlooked. The over volt of the chip does effectively erode the chip's performance after 12 months -18% on the overclock. Secondly, cost of operation 140w draw during media decoding or heavy gaming. The 3770k @4.5GHz 1.255v uses 74 watts at maximum load, and runs at 67-70 degrees at full load. The chip is fantastic at multitasking (run prime 95, and four other Microsoft apps simultaneously without stutter or pause.
Great processor which still provides good performance for gaming and multithreaded applications certainly speeds up your PC if your upgrading from and older i5 or i3 on the lag 1155 socket

This is a seriously fast processor, able to conduct tasks at lightning speed. I bought this as a replacement for an AMD X6 1100T and it is a huge leap in performance, it is also consuming less power and runs quieter as it is cooler!
still good for today's standards . Still expensive for today's standards.
