It started well but then it lapsed into small adventures such as a fire in the library which the firemen put out after a while. Not that exciting. I haven’t finished watching the fittest season so I’m hoping it will pick up so I don’t get bored.

From the opening scene, I was completely hooked. This series, which achieved early cult status in the States, tells how one small Kansas town reacts to a series of nuclear bombs being set off all over the country. They don't know if a foreign power is attacking them or whether it's home-grown terrorism. The characters are all beautifully drawn and the acting is superb, especially our own Lennie James who can do a very realistic Louisiana (I think it is) accent and Skeet Ulrich, playing the town's bad boy, home from he won't say where...Lennie James plays a new resident of the town and I'm not giving away much by revealing that he is a 'spook' in hiding. He knows a lot and his resourcefulness eventually earns him the respect of the town's leaders. The town has to defend and feed itself in the face of some horrendous developments, such as radioactive rain, raids by neighbouring towns and massive influxes of refugees from the war zones. Some of the characters are heroic, some selfish, some incredibly ingenious and in the midst of their efforts to survive, there are some convincing sub-plots, great action scenes and a couple of love stories. When the identity of real villains were finally revealed (and I defy you to guess who they are until very near the end of Series 2) it's left to the viewer to foretell how Jericho will deal with them. CBS was bombarded with complaints (and peanuts!)from Jericho fanatics when they cancelled the show after the first series, so they brought back a restricted second series. I've bought both! This review is already too long but suffice to say it's a gripping yarn!Read full review
I have never watched the series 'Lost' but I am well aware the show is built around questions and conspiracies. Jericho is so similar, yet so different. The series resolves around several Nuclear Attacks on the United States and how a small Kansas town adapts to being isolated from a torn country. It may not sound much but unlike Lost, This could happen and gets you asking yourself some serious questions. Be sure to watch a quick trailer or video on the series because once you get settled in, You won't put the remote down. Jericho is a nail biting roller coaster ride that you really MUST see. Its awesome.
Side-lined onto being shown on ITV4 late last & earlier this year (2008), you may have missed this little gem from CBS Paramount. If you enjoyed the likes of Lost or Hero's, you'll enjoy this. The premise of the story is a simple, yet realistic, scenario of how a small, mid-west American town (Jericho) survives in the months after an all out nuclear strike on the US. In the beginning the townsfolk are in the dark about the reasons behind the attack and the extent of it. It’s a question of survival as society begins to break down and help from the outside world doesn’t arrive. There are several main characters in the story; many episodes revolve around the family central to the town – the major and his sons. Together they just about hold things together. This is not just your average ‘post-apocalyptic, wish Ray Mears was here’ story. There are plenty of plot twists and turns and you find out little, by little what has happened. As with Hero’s & Lost the story slowly unravels throughout the series and there are plenty of end-of-episode cliff-hangers to keep you interested. Who exactly is the mysterious Mr Hawkins? Although not as big-budget as the other aforementioned series, I think Jericho is extremely well written, you soon feel an affinity with the characters and find yourself going through the roller coaster ride along with them. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have done.Read full review
