I watched this movie dozens of times online and decided I had to own a copy. I had never seen the movie or the play at a school. Some of the women's costumes are quite sexual but without nudity. I loved the whole thing! This is Andrew Lloyd Webbers first musical. All the characters are entertaining and this is a wonderful rendering of the biblical story of Joseph. I rate it A+++.

It was difficult to watch. There were only two or three 'good songs' in the whole show. It was like Bible Story meets Laugh-In for Kids. Kids might enjoy it because of the bright colors and silliness. It sort of tells the Bible story of Joseph, son of Jacob, being sold by his brothers to be a slave in Egypt and the goings on there (in a way that is appropriate to kids). BUT --- it seems to me it would only confuse the kids - the costumes are biblical in some songs, something out of the Wild West in other songs and just plain weird in others. The silliness distracted too much for me to enjoy it at all. As said, there were three okay songs, well song, but I won't be re-watching it, nor passing it on to anyone else. I won't say it was sacrilegious but it surely was little to no educational value in teach the true lesson of Joseph. Quite a disappointment for me -- I've enjoyed most of the Andrew Lloyd Weber's music I've seen/heard (especially Jesus Christ Superstar and music from Phantom of the Opera). I'd have given it fewer stars but just because I dislike 'silliness' in Bible stories/movies doesn't mean others will. The singing wasn't too bad - just inane presentation.Read full review

First off, this Andrew Lloyd Webber musical is NOT my favorite and bought it for my wife and daughter who LOVE this show. That having been established, I was pleasantly surprised by the performances and the presentation of this stage musical. Donny Osmond has pretty much made a career out of playing the lead in this show and it's obvious why he has earned accolades. Based on the London Palladium staging of the show, it is shot on stage, multi camera, sans audience so it flows seamlessly and without applause. Presented in 1.55:1 widescreen with both Dolby Digital and DTS audio, it is a grand spectacle ideal for the audio and videophile. Special features include a "Making of" featurette, production notes and cast and filmmakers credits.
Excellent movie. The sound was very low at times. Had to adjust the volume accordinlgly.

I love this movie and have watched it several times. The music by Andrew Lloyd Webber is excellent and the vocal talents of Maria Friedman and Donnie Osmond are spectacular. This is based on an actual Bible story and is one of inspiration. The storytelling aspect was also wonderful. I thought having the Pharoah portrayed by an Elvis impersonator was a great twist so that everyone could understand his role in society. I also liked that fact that several music styles were used in this, leaving nothing out. I've never been a fan of musicals but this will make me take a second look.
