this is the last book in a trilogy, and well worth reading. it's set in a well constructed, imaginative world which has been sustained throughout the series. however the action is a little slow and repetitive, and the characters are one dimensional. It isn't compulsive reading, but that is an advantage in so large a work-- it can be good to have a book that one doesn't have to stay up with until the early hours. mind you, i am only 3/4 of the way through (it's a big book), so maybe there will be a humdinger ending. I shan't keep this book but i will pass it on to my best friend.
