I've gone through 4 of these units, they all ended up with defects, broken parts, quirks.. I'm something of a techie and I've even tried to rebuild 2 of them, but they continued to have issues. If you do by some miracle get one of these docks to print a clean image, count your blessings because chances are the next one will be streaked, blotchy, half missing or not there at all. I even bought one that was advertised as "new in the box", and I saw it was defective as soon as I unwrapped it and tried to load the ink. On top of all that, these are no longer supported by Kodak, so you need to find ink, paper and accessories second-hand on eBay. My advice: If you're even THINKING about buying one of these, even if it's advertised as "like new" and looks like the deal of the year, STOP and buy something new. Subtract another star if you're not a techie and don't have patience for quirky equipment and for taking things apart. EasyShare? No, NIGHTMARE!!! In plain English, THESE ARE JUNK!Read full review

I use this printer for 50% of my photo developing, and I have to admit that the quality of the pictures is superb. The printing process is fast, and the pictures come out borderless, sharp, crisp, and without ink rub off. When I display the photographs from this printer along with developments with a high quality camera and store development process, I actually prefer this printer's pictures. I've had the Kodak EasyShare Printer for about a year, and hopefully improvements have been made in the newer models. Here are the problems with this model: The ink cartridge and photo paper refill system is extremely expensive. They are also difficult to replace in the printer without causing the need to unplug and shut down everything on the printer and on your computer. The software that comes with this system is difficult to install on your pc, causes errors and freeze ups, and doesn't always respond to commands from the printer like it should. The printer stopped charging my digital camera after about 4 months of use. (I've tried replacing the battery in the camera to a new rechargeable Kodak battery, which was costly, and hasn't fixed the problem. I now use regular batteries, but go through them weekly, which is also costly!) The buttons on the printer which should tell it to print a photo, or transfer pictures, do not function properly. It takes many times to dock and redock your camera for the printer to 'figure out' that it is there. Finally, the paper recieving process was non-functioning since it's very first print. You have to manually feed the paper in at the exact appropriate time, and if you miss this time slot, you have to unplug and restart both the camera and your computer. When rating this printer, I would give the absolute highest mark on the photo quality, and the absolute lowest mark on the actually functioning of the system. The fact that the front of the printer is marked with the words "Number 1 in ease of use" is like a slap in the face every time I print!Read full review
I rate this printer top of the line for picture quality and easy use. I must say though that a person does have to know some things about a computer to manage the printer dock. The good news is that you don't even need a computer if you don't want to hook it to one, you can easily print directly from your camera. And what even cooler is that it is portable. I have had my camera and printer dock for about a 1 1/2 years and have found it to be much better than any other photo printer out there. It's like getting professional prints. The flip side I guess is that you can't have an 8 x 10, but that's OK I usually use the print stations in the stores for that anyway.
This printer is the best quality photo printer I have ever seen for home use. It works flawlessly everytime and is so easy to use! To save paper, you can print smaller pictures on one 4X6 sheet, fun for scrapbooks because your pictures aren't all the same size. The photos won't fade or deteriorate over time, I've had inkjet photo prints that fade or stick to the glass in a frame, but not these prints! The kodak software is also easy to use and a great way to edit and organize your photos. It downloads updates automatically from the Kodak website, which I also use frequently to share photos with family. Actually, you don't have to register a Kodak product to use their softward, you can download directly from their website. I have never had trouble this printer communicating with my computer like the previous review...maybe she had a bad cord. You just sit the camera on the dock and it automatically goes to work uploading your photos. Overall, I would buy it again!Read full review
