This coffee machine sits on the kitchen worktop under top cupboards and is about the same depth. Despite its compact size it will take tall mugs, which some espresso machines won't. Variable volume, maximum is 200ml (just over 1/3rd pint) but you can top up large mugs by running a second shot. Quick to use - it takes a minute or so to warm up and it's ready to go. Two strength settings and three grinder settings (which also affects strength). Makes a good strong coffee using strong setting with fine setting on the grinder. This makes good coffee but if you are really discerning please note this is not as good as a proper espresso machine. I've just upgraded from an earlier version of the Krups XP5620 which cost less than half the price and produces a better crema. The downside of the XP5620 is you have to grind separately and fill/empty the filter, which takes longer and is messy. So there is a trade-off between convenience and coffee quality, which is why I can only give it 4 stars. However, I've had several Delonghi espresso machines and I've tried the Delonghi equivalent to this machine, and in my opinion this Krups machine makes better coffee. Read full review

I purchased this when there was an ebay 20% off sale, and naively hoped that it was a hood and reputable product. Initially it was good, and the novelty of owning my first bean to cup machine was pleasing. Then within days the stainless steel on the drip-trap top became faded and scratched, despite very careful use. Soon after, I found that the heat-adjustment meant that even on the hottest setting, the coffee was still at best only ‘warm’, and needed to be zapped in the microwave. And then I’ve found that at least once a week, despite the bean compartment being half-full, the machine has made me a warm cup of water - without grinding any beans, presumably to see if I noticed or not. I personally wouldn’t buy this product, or recommend it to someone, unless they are very easily pleased, and like tepid coffee.Read full review

This machine makes excellent lattes, cappuccinos & espresso. It is easy to use & clean, the only niggle is the steam nozzle which feels quite flimsy but has never let me down. It's in use every day! Wonderful fresh coffee!
