The illustrations in this are very lifelike & detailed. There's a magic to the early Ladybird books & the level of artistic detail in them that is rarely seen in modern Children's books. Brings back memories of Childhood. Also invokes sadness because all of this wildlife is badly threatened now but excessive building & development over Natural Estuaries & Forests & back when this was written the Estuaries were largely left alone as They should be. Perhaps this book brings back a longing for the lovely places & Nature that were everywhere around Us all those Years ago.
