I saw this film on sky movies, when i was bored one afternoon, and it cracked me up.i made my husband watch it later that day,he liked it so much he bought it on dvd.the film is refreshingly uncomplicated and entertaining for all ages,my 10 year old also enjoyed it immensly,..it is all about a fellow by the name of Ichabod Crane, he's an oppertunist teacher, who takes up the position of headmaster of sleepy hollow school,he takes a liking to the beautiful daughter of the richest farmer of sleepy hollow and sets out to marry her, with the notions of owning her family's wealth, needless to say it see's him making a complete fool of himself and earns him a few "enemies" along the way. but over all a great film that doesn't take too much concentration,so great to spend some of your free time, without hurting your head or leaving you confused.deffinately worth a viewing,as its bound to make you giggle once or twiceRead full review
This is that version of the movie that you will likely have come across at discount shops, or bundled together in one of those cheep DVD compilation sets - and will probably have avoided like the plague? If so, then you would have missed a classic film! True, it was made for TV by Hallmark - but don't let that put you off! This is a true gem! What I love is that this film is almost identically shot to the 1949 Disney animated classic (the one narrated by Bing Crosby). Don't get me wrong; Johnny Depp did a splendid job in his portrayal of the character in Tim Burton's fanciful retelling of the story, but Brent Carver wins hands down as the definitive Ichabod Crane. This is a move the whole family can watch on a Sunday afternoon and laugh (and cringe) at ichabod's antics in the village - talk about outstaying your welcome! Ahh... but I must stop myself from giving too much of the story away. This is not an expensive film to buy (like I said), but, it's certainly not a waste of your good money either. I've watched my copy more than a dozen times. Now that has to be good value for money!Read full review
I bought this thinking it was Sleepy Hollow so a little disappointed, but once I had watched it I decided that it was ok. Don't watch this one much as prefer to watch Sleepy Hollow itself (bought dvd) but will watch it again. Its hard when watching this though not to compare with Sleepy Hollow, this film looks at the tale of the headless horseman and the characters in a totally different way. Still if you like this type of film then it is good to watch. My score for this film is only 7/10 but only because I prefer Sleepy Hollow.
One of my favourite Tim Burton films. Stars Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, And other well known actors. Based on the classic tale of The legend of sleepy hollow, Were a man has to encounter the legend of the headless horse man. It' a definate must see lots of blood, headless people, and romance (not too lovey dovey though). Would recommend to anyone i've ever met. Brilliant film.
A very tame version, that stuck by the original book. The guy who played Ichabod Crane could have been far better chosen, as the actor could NOT act. The over all movie storyline was good but the poor acting throughout left it uninteresting
