I used to have one of these as a work machine back in 2011-12 and loved it. The compact size, stunning battery life (with the 9 cell battery), proper mechanical keyboard (not chicklet style), sturdy build quality and good performance make this a good buy (mine is an i5, 8GB, 512GB SSD). You can also easily replace the hard drive without taking the machine completely apart (easy to put in an SSD), also has an express card 54 slot that allows some exapnsion. Most useful I find is a card giving 2 x USB3 ports which costs less than £10. Has both wired and wifi too. There are slightly different versions (i.e. no trackpad, or fingerprint security sensor as well as processor, memory and hard drive variations so be careful when buying). The screen resolution is 1280x800 rather than widescreen so some may see this as a disadvantage. Also be aware that this laptop has no CD-ROM drive - less important with all the downloads these days or if you have a network. USB CD and DVD drives are cheap now though if you need one.Read full review
Great laptop. looks new. everything works fine! Battery is ok! It lasts more than the advertised duration. Installed with a clean copy of windows 7 and installed with the upgraded ssd drive. This makes the computer super fast and is a pleasure to do general browsing and work. The laptop is a solid laptop and is built to last. Would highly recommend this to students and people who need a laptop to do work and browsing on and not spending a fortune on. The battery lasts more than an hour, I am quite happy with that. But there are batteries for this laptop that would give you many more hours. I may invest in a new battery in the future but right now I am happy.
I was familiar with that physical size of machine. It is light and well-built, although it feels flimsy. One of the problems is that it came with a US rather than a UK keyboard - I didn't expect that and it was not mentioned in the description. Another problem, rather major, is that the battery is faulty. I hardly get an hour's use from fully charged. On the good side, It runs Linux (Ubuntu 13.10) very well and is powerful enough not to hang when processing complex images.
