Selling this utterly Mint, NOS, US ARMY M-1948 SMALL Fishtail Parka, complete with SMALL M-1948 Fishtail Parka pile liner.

This is a very reluctant sell, and this parka is one of the very best in my collection.

The only reason I am selling it is that it’s just a little too tight for me…but do not let that put you off as I am a big bloke…..and I have recently bought a Large M-48 that is a much better fit on me.

The photos really tell the story, this M-48 Fishtail Parka is the business.
This is a complete M-48 Fishtail Parka…Shell and liner.

The Shell

This parka shell is an utter gem. It has retained its sheen and looks brand new, totally un-issued. So much so that it still had the the cutter’s chalk marks around the zip when i first got it.

This parka shows absolutely no signs of wear and tear. It has never been washed.

This really is a once in a life time find.

I have only worn this parka about half a dozen times and only walking about. It has never been anywhere near a scooter.

There literally isn't a mark on it.

When I bought it there was no fur on the hood. I believe that this parka had been sold as surplus by the US Army and as was common after 1972 the US Army had stripped the original fur off the hood to comply with Federal law prohibiting  US government bodies dealing in fur

I did a lot of research and I imported proper "Winter grade" Wolverine pelt, at phenomenal cost, from Alaska's renowned "Bill Worb Furs".

I then sent the parka to the equally famous London furriers "Gales" of Regent Street, London, to have it professionally fitted.

So the fur is in superb, "as new" condition and they have done a brilliant job, it really is pristine wolverine fur, in stunning colors.
The original wire is still in the hood  rim and is unbroken.

Both solid brass Talon zippers (the main zipper and the left sleeve pocket zipper) glide easily and are perfect.

The button loop is in place on the neck.

All the original white core drawstrings are all in place and mint, they still have the original sealant on the tips. That just shows just what fantastic, mint condition this parka is in

The press snap connectors are all pristine and solid, they all still have the black anodizing on them and are unmarked and unscratched.

The buttons are all in place, trust me when I say this is THE perfect M-48 Parka shell, I doubt you will ever find a better.

The spec labels again are both mint, the cuffs are wonderful, the original elastic in them is like new and totally "elastic" which is rare.

There are absolutely no issues I can find with this shell, its the best M-48 Parka shell I have personally ever seen.

If you want more pictures, just ask me, I will be happy to send as many as you want.
The Liner

I bought the liner shortly after I bought the parka shell.

It has been issued but is in virtually mint condition.
The liner has no tears or repairs at all, not a single spot of moth damage on the wool hood and I would say it is as good an M-48 Liner as you'll ever find out there.

I spent a long time looking for one in this fantastic condition to match the shell and it wasn't cheap.
The only small issue I could find on it was a small handwritten serial number on the neck (see picture 12 just under the hood), but that's it.
Both snap connectors are in it and both are perfect.

The button holes are in really good solid condition and you need to push the buttons through with some force to get them in, as such it holds the buttons solidly and never becomes unbuttoned unless you choose to unbutton it.
There is absolutely no fraying or bald or wear spots at all anywhere on it, the cuffs are perfect, the edging is perfect and every seam is solid.

When I fitted the liner into the shell for the very first time the buttons lined up 100% perfectly as they are both small sized so no buttons ever had to be moved on the shell and they are all still in the original places with the original thread.

It fits the shell like a hand in a glove basically.

Both spec labels are in place, (breast pocket inner and outer), clear to read and in good condition.

There are no significant stains or tears or repairs to this liner at all, it is virtually unmarked and the pictures are a good indicator of its condition, its a perfect match for the shell.

Its a really lovely liner, the brown pile liners are the oldest and best ones made in my opinion.
Again, ill be happy to take any amount of pictures of any requested part of it and send them to you, just ask me.
Its the business.

Anyone looking seriously at this parka and considering buying it will know what the sizes of a small M-48 are in honesty, they are a big parka even in a "Small" size.
But for those who like to know the actual measured size, zipped up and laid flat with a tape measure in inches, it is as follows.
Obviously the sizes are as close as i can measure with a tape.

Both Shell and liner are clearly labeled SMALL sized
Pit to Pit = 31"
Pit to Cuff = 20.5"
Shoulder to Cuff = 26"
Neck to Hem (Front) = 38"
Neck to Fishtail Tip (Back) = 41"

Ive listed these comprehensive measurements for a reason guys.
These are the sizes of the parka i am selling, it is NOT a parka made to fit YOU personally
As such, please check that this parka will fit you BEFORE you bid.
I will NOT issue any refund for sizing issues. Any doubts, do NOT bid, ask me first.

I have never seen another complete M-1948 Parka in this condition and I have certainly never seen one for sale.

If you buy this M-48 you will be the proud owner of a pristine example and you will be the envy of all serious parka collectors and hard core Mods.

If you need to see any more photos please e-mail me and I will send you as many photos as you require and of any part of the parka or liner you ask to look at.
I have a vast number of photos of it on file, please ask me to have a look at them if needs be, ill be happy to send you as many pictures as you want.

I will ONLY send this parka by a fully tracked and insured service. l not ship it to Russia,Italy or China because their postal services are so unreliable.
I would strongly suggest overseas bidders contact me for a price for postage prior to bidding as it will vary greatly dependent upon where you live

I'm not one of these people who will rip anyone off for postage, what it costs me, it will cost you and as soon as you tell me the destination ill come back with a price to post it there.
I will do cash on collection or PayPal, no other method, full payment must be made within 72 hours or i will re-list it, its that simple.

You will have to wait to be invoiced to the full cost if you win the auction and you are based outside the UK  as the postage will be significantly dearer.
The buyer is responsible for all postage costs and any import duty or taxes that their customs may charge.

The listed postal price for overseas is only an estimate, please contact me for the actual overseas recorded and insured postal price before bidding.
UK postage price will be £30 recorded and fully insured for everyone's peace of mind.

Lastly before you decide to bid, please have a read through my feedback, my word is my bond, i don't ever sell crap and im an honest guy and a real parka enthusiast.
So If you have always dreamed of owning a mint condition M-1948 Fishtail parka, this is your chance to get one and M-48s in this condition only ever go up in value.
You will never see another one, as good as this for sale.

Please note , this parka is listed for sale elsewhere, as such I reserve the right to withdraw it from sale at any time unless at least one "holding bid" has been placed.

Due to at least half dozen messages all asking me for a buyout price, if you really want it , there is a price now, please don't ask me any more guys.
