This thing is Very Demanding on resources. Sending 8 signals of hi-end audio to your computer will put a toll on it. I was attempting to use this on my old macbook. It was a first gen core2 duo.. It couldn't hang. Once you had all the tracks simultaneously recording, it kept locking up because it could not handle the bandwidth. The audio I did capture was nothing less than excellent though. I am impressed with this product, but it requires a computer with some serious horsepower in order to use all 8 tracks to the computer. I'm sure the mac I ordered will have no prblems with this once I get it. It would have been 5 stars if I didn't have to upgrade to use this thing. The reason I bought this was to make my own small studio. I was having a hard time finding a decent product that had at least 8 tracks out as well as in. It was easy to install on my computer, and it supports the latest version of Snow Leopard. Just make sure you are using a powerful enopugh machine if using all 8 tracks at once.Read full review
Had to turn the gain almost all the way up in order to power my m-audio solaris mic. If i turn the gain all the way up, the vocals are hot and peak out, but about 85% is about as high as I can go. At 85% the vocals are not distorted and are very clear, just a little low volume wise. I'll take that any day over distorted hot vocals. I can always turn the vocals up in the program i'm using. Also the dc adapter plug and usb plug dont insert all the way into the device which i thought was weird, but they do work, just leaves a little bit of the metal showing on both cords. This device is pretty lightweight too. All in all i'm happy with my purchase.
I needed a new audio USB interface I only had a M-audio Duo. It only has 2 ins and 2 outs . I've had it for some time and probably used it 3 times. So I've been reading hundreds of reviews on interfaces,I read a lot of bad reviews on about all of them. So I'd like to share my experience with you all. I bought a.M-Audio Fast Track Ultra USB Interface. I read about it for a week before I bought one off Ebay. There were all sorts of bad reviews about there PC 's not seeing the interface.Channels not working on brand new one's. Ok mine took about an hr to set up on my Imac .I use Cubase essentials 5 and I went on You Tube to find out how to set it up easily a week before I bought one ,That helped a great deal. Then I could only get 4 channels to work .Then I remembered everything on this interface has to be set up through the software that comes with it. The Ultra Fast Control Panel. So you can see what is working and is not working on the complete interface all at once.Which I thought was cool , because now you can troubleshoot everything. So the sole reason I bought this is so I can take all of my tracks out of my Roland VS 1880 which has 8 outs and send them through the Ultra which has 8 in's into my Mac onto Cubase and now I can manipulate ever note in every track where as of course in the 1880 you only have one page at a time to edit from.I still like the Idea of having an external recorder. I've had a computer go down with a bad hard drive on a recording session .Yes I back up everything . I love my M-Audio Ultra Fast.Read full review
I bought this product because Ptotools MP9 was supposed to be capatable. It has a buffering error that seems to be unavoidable with my setup. I have since sold my Pro tools and using Sony Acid, seems to work great with that software.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
Generally I am unhappy with this purchase for several reasons: 1. Of the 4 input channels, only 2 of them work. 2. The 2 channels that do work, do so only intermittently. More than half the time the input signal is distorted. This could be due to a multitude of reasons- it's a troubleshooting nightmare. 3. I am unable to return this M-Audio product to the seller because of his short(7-days)timeframe in which to do so. Technically, this is not the seller's fault that it took me more than a week to figure out the product. It's due to the fact that there are many functions of the product which require several not so obvious steps, combined with the facts that the user's guide/instructions are everything but "quickstart" and the product is dysfunctional so you never knew if you were correctly following the instructions as you could repeat the same steps and get several different results. 4. Fortunately AVID's product warranty covers the repair. But this process can be be described as anything other than smooth, efficient, friendly, etc., etc.. I'll just leave it at that. 5. So to date, I have in my possession an expensive, suppossedly industry leading product, which after 2 months I am still unable to use. 6. I am mailing the product for repairs this week and hoping that my experience/satisfaction with this product and the AVID company drastically changes as a result of whatever transpires from this point forward. If not, it will definitely be not only my first, but also my last AVID experience.Read full review
