This happens to be my favourite film but admittedly, It won't be everyone's 'Cup Of Tea' as it's not exactly your standard subject matter, style or budget BUT those aside, To know this was made by 4 student film makers on a shoe-string budget as submission for a University project makes it even more amazing - Especially as it went on to win numerous prizes at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival where it had it's 1st official screening. The film went on to inspire great filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino & Oliver Stone .

The film follows a team of documentary makers who decide to do a 'fly on the wall' style documentary of a serial killer! I won't go into detail as it might spoil the plot other than to say the documentary makers are naive, the killer is affable and the film is brilliant. If you are easily shocked or offended please avoid it. Or go ahead and watch it then find someone who cares to write to and complain about it! Some call it a study of how the media can have an effect and therefore warp the reality of the subject matter along with the counter that the subject matter will inevitably have an effect on the Journalists. Some call it a brilliant black comedy. Some simply call it sick. My view, one of the best films of the 20th century. Oh, its Belgian, in black and white and comes with English subtitles, so if thats not your thing, whatch it anyway, it's worth it!Read full review
Made by three Belgian film students, “Man Bites Dog” was the prize winning sensation at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival and has achieved cult status. A black comedy about an amiable but seriously warped mass murderer who kills without motive or conscience. The story follows the increasingly close relationship between the killer and a film crew making a documentary about his exploits.
I heard Iain Lee,Absolute Radio, and former LBC presenter, rave about this film.On impulse,I decided to see for myself and very happy that I did.A superb black comedy made by three independent Belgian friends, outstanding, breath taking violence. You don't know whether to laugh or be appalled. It is that good!!A true cult film. How to make a film when you are skint and win an award.See this film out of the 999 before you die.!
