THIS IS A REVIEW FOR THE SMC PENTAX-M 35mm f/2.8 - NOT THE PENTAX-A PICTURED. I have a 28mm and a 50mm, as well as some zooms that cover the 35mm focal length, but I wanted a lens that was dedicated to 35mm. Fixed focal length lenses always have better image quality ("IQ") compared to any zoom, and I find fixed focal length lenses easier to use. This lens is fully manual. Aperture and focus must be set by your hand. This lens does not communicate with your camera in any way and you must use the "M" setting. None of these facts are flaws of the lens; that's just the way it works. It works great and is wonderfully sharp, and quite decent wide-open with minimal "glow" and no distortion. There is a minor amount of CA when it's closed up tight and/or in high-contrast situations, but the "super multi-coating" nearly eliminates that completely. The color rendition is WONDERFUL and images seem to pop. Get a clean copy of the lens and know what you're buying and you can't be disappointed.Read full review
Small, my best use smc Pentax with the LX body. Moved it over to the K5 and K3 with green button metering. No electrical contacts, so use it methodically. Very sharp and colorful, a jewel now waiting the full frame body. It will last, and grantgreat images if clean and kept well.
