Usual Makita LXT quality (this ones made in Japan which I prefer), good price and an ideal alternative to a petrol equivalent, the Stihl equivalent is considerably more and means unless you use the Stihl batteries in other Stihl products a bit of an extravagance, with other LXT tools in hand then batteries get circulated and not left on the shelf. Spares are readily available and don’t cost the earth, batteries are also readily available (I don’t recommend non genuine, that’s a personal choice). This supplements it’s smaller brother (a 122), power wise its more than up to the job, it’s also safer (I think), but be aware this is not a DIY’er tool, Makita state it’s for ‘trained arborists), like all chainsaws its potentially lethal, a little training will stand a user an advantage in use and safety. There’s lots of YouTube videos about them which gives a good idea of the performance. Buy it with confidence use it with care !Read full review

These are great little saws, they are relatively light and give around 20 to 25 mins cutting time on 4ah batteries, I have cut trees down up to about 10" diameter without problems. I own a fair number of Stihl petrol chainsaws and it's quite clear there is a distinct lack of power in the Makita so don't expect it to perform like a petrol chainsaw, buy for what it is it's a great little product

An excellent product gives its cost value Suitable for small and medium jobs for wood cutting up to a diameter of 30 cm easily. The cost of the product is a bit expensive but works without power on batteries for almost half an hour. Very pleased with this item.

I am so happy with this saw, it is easy to use, light weight, easy to carry in a bag anywhere, batteries last around 20 minuets each, 3ah ones, shame its not a bit longer though. Looks good, made well, cuts decent size wood, have been cutting 10" trunks with ease. Highly recommended

So much easier all round than equivalent ICE versions. Apart from keeping blade sharp, no messy time-consuming prepping before use. Quiet! You don't need ear protection. This makes it safer all round. With ICE saws, not being able to hear other things going on around you can often be the cause of accident. OK a good ICE machine starts fairly easily, but how many of them always start first time? No hassle here, as long as the batteries are OK, it runs when you pull the trigger. All over far superior to the equivalent ICE saw. You wouldn't use it to fell big trees in a forest, but that's not what it's designed for. Excellent all round. 10 out of 10
