This unit packs quite a heft, so needs a weighty tripod to balance out the combination. Works well enough and the weight inspires confidence when you have expensive kit mounted on it. The "tilt" is spring loaded, so with the long handle fitted, it cannot fold snugly between the legs for transport. Or rather it can be folded if you don't mind locking the spring in its stressed position. I suspect you can find an "as good" head for a lot less price if you have time to research before you buy, I didn't have time so went for this known make.

Too many turns required to change angle of handle. No side push button to release plate by sliding. The only way of releasing plate is to unscrew a small, fairly flimsy, side screw (with small thread) then lean it back. This allows you to lift the plate straight up. There are other much better ways of creating a vertical release head. Smallrig is probably the best one.

I use this for improving stills photography when using a 600mm prime lens. Even though it’s designed for videography it makes a great silky smooth flexi head when combined with a sturdy monopod
