The TSL100, like most all tube Marshall amps, respond wonderfully pick pressure, and how forcefully you strike (and even grip) the strings. Learning to coax those sounds out of it is an art, and part of the musicianship that the greats, like Beck and Satch, do so well. This amp responds well to tube changes. First, I had to bias the power tubes up to the recommended 90mV (they were at 68). Then I tried many different preamp tubes and it responded drastically different to them. NOS Mullards tamed it, too much. NOS Ei sound wonderful, but the NOS RFT's growled and rocked. I've heard some negative comments about this amp, and it's not like some plug and play solid state job, or even some of the master volume amps that don't tweak well. You can tweak this amp to your hearts content and get chiming cleans, blues with a little grit, hard rock and straight up metal out of it.Read full review

This supposedly fixes the problem with the TSL amps with bias / overheating problems. I put it in, and haven't noticed any problems. The grid resistors are 5.69 K, and the capacitor #46 is rated for 1000V, instead of 500V like the old board. The new board has more connectors than the old one, but mine switches fine with the old connectors attached, and not connecting the extra ones. No problems!

My new favorite amp. First off, I had to get a new reverb tank. The preamp tube shield was missing also. Easy fixes. Then I put in a full set of new tubes and I'm in love. The only thing I don't like is the parallel effects loop. Glad I took a chance on an amp that needed some work.

Excellent sounding amp. Waiting on the foot switch which is on its way. Very pleased.
