If you're a fan of the Max Payne video games series, then you owe it to yourself to stay as far away as possible from this travesty of a film adaptation. Given how cinematic the original game (and it's first sequel, note that this film predates the 3rd game) was, a movie version seemed sensible, if somewhat redundant. All you had to do was take the game script, tighten it up a bit, maybe throw in a curve ball or two then cast decent actors and get to work on awesome bullet time effects sequences. However, in a truly stunning move, the movie decided to consign the majority of the plot, characters and the central concept (film noir style with voiceover) not to mention the bullet time gun fights (bullet time is only used twice in the entire film and in both times Max is fighting 1 on 1) The cinematography is decent enough and Mark Wahlberg is trying his best with the weak material the script gives him but all in all this film is a waste of a good property and a waste of time.Read full review
Lovers of the game of the same name will know what to expect from this DVD. The atmosphere of which is well captured by this movie. This pacey thriller is enjoyable by those who like an all action film with plenty of stunts and/or flying glass . if you only like period drama or romantic comedies then it's definately not for you.
