I decided to purchase this collection (comprising a book - Sick City, a gazetteer and six booklets) as something to entertain me when I retired from my job at Christmas. It was an excellent investment. Sick City provides a fascinating insight into the development of the awareness of disease and its causes, and the development of the steps taken to deal with it over the past two millennia. It is written in the form of six essays, each addressing the topic from a different viewpoint; each equally fascinating and written in a thoroughly engaging style. Anatomy of the City dissects London into geographical regions and for each provides a comprehensive guide to places of interest in the history of medicine and health and those involved with it, together with an invaluable guide to opening times, where relevant. Where appropriate, sites are linked to the series of six booklets in the set which offer guided walks around the city, arranged by topic. This box set would make the perfect gift for anyone involved in medicine or related professions, or anyone with an interest in history from a medical viewpoint - or really anyone with an interest in life! Owning this collection makes me wish I lived a whole lot nearer to London! A most highly recommended purchase.Read full review
