The book is written as though you are being trained to fly a real aircraft and meet (American) standards to qualify as a pilot. This has then been modified to fit in with FSX with plenty of hints and tips on using the software. There is also a lot of material available to download from the Wiley website to go along with the lessons. I find using FSX has become much more absorbing with this structured training approach rather than randomly dipping into the software to try various things. My only criticism is the poor quality of some of the screenshots which are all in monochrome.

I wanted a good reference source for my Flight Sim and this delivered the goods. Its very much aimed at the serious would be pilot with in depth explanations on most scenarios. As a reference source and instructional tool its great, don't expect it to give you info on cheats etc.
This is book has a strong american biase. All the excercises are over the US and the piper cub is a firm favourite. I am disappointed that so much is written for the single or twin engine pilot and yet little if nothing for the commercial jet pilot.
