Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven, commonly abbreviated to Might and Magic VI or simply MM6, is a computer role-playing game developed by New World Computing and published by 3DO in 1998. It is the sixth installment in the Might and Magic series, the sequel to Might and Magic V: Darkside of Xeen and the first of the Might and Magic titles to take place in the same world as Heroes of Might and Magic. It continues the storyline of Heroes of Might and Magic II, and is followed by Heroes of Might and Magic III in the series chronology. Compared favorably with its peer CRPGs such as The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and Ultima, it was praised for its non-linear, user-friendly premise, an interactive, detailed game world and a polished, bug-free initial release, but received criticism for its drawn-out questline and minimalist roleplaying elements. Modern retrospectives credit its tagline of "Witness the rebirth of a legend" as an appropriate harbinger of the renaissance of western CRPGs, and credit Might and Magic VI as an important part of that revival.[1][2] A Limited Edition version of the game was also released, including a cloth map of Enroth, a strategy guide and the first five games of the series on CD-ROM. It was followed by three sequels, with Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor directly continuing the story arc.Read full review
I played this game in my earlier years, about a decade ago. Glad I got the opportunity to play it again. MM6 is a solid RPG with pretty good graphics for its time. It handles easily with minimal key binds to confuse the player. The plot is riveting and the characters are made to be customizable to your style of RPG play. Quests are never hard to find and the greater plot plays like the epic tale it is supposed to. The money system is also appreciably valid as unlike many other RPGs you do not run out of a need for it. Overall a wholesome adventure that anyone can sink into!
the bad news is that this fantastic game(that I have beaten three times on my old computer)will not work on my new comp! The good news is that it is positively NOT the fault of this very prompt seller. It simply won't play on my new high powered comp, and that is truly a shame,as MM6 is one of the best first person RPGS you will ever play.Nevermind the slightly dated graphics,MM6 will not disappoint true fans of the genre.Somewhat like my favorite conventional rpg, RIFTS,MM6 throws EVERYTHING at you, both mythological and futuristic, with both barrels. The story is captivating, the creatures realistic and the missions uber challenging without being overwhelming...OWN THIS GAME!!!
I had this game years ago but it was broken by accident by my son and i finally replaced it. Fun game closest I have come to playing the old school D&D role playing games without having to have anyone else play. Plus once you get high up and get all the spells you can kill off the townfolks then resurect them and kill em again . I love shrinking them the tiny screams amuse me so.
I bought this as a collectable. Not to play. And I couldn't be more happy with the condition. Definitely my favourite collectable PC box so far.
