This DVD is full of interesting extras good for dabblers and fans of Chaplin alike, the information about his writing on inequity and inequality in capitalist society is wonderful. The film itself is excellent quality/re-mastering and as with all of Chaplins films the laughter is tinged with sadness and half formed hopeless hope. A seering indictment against capitalism and in favour of fairer more equitable systems having film footage interspersed with footage of the union, labour and communist issues of the day brings home that Chaplin was more than just the 'funny looking tramp' we tend to associate him as today. His films were subversive, intelligent and genuinly seeking to offer social commentary on the issues of the day. This film despite its age is as pertinant today as it was on release it can only be hoped someone realises it and re-releases it to make it easier to get hold of.Read full review
fantastic movement and wonderful timing - perfect good old fashioned family fun.having never seen a chaplin film before i was suprised how 'modern' it appeared.in the film he seems to have the ability to make you laugh & cry with ease!
