I'm a latecomer to Nashville, having missed all the early series. But Woman's Hour on Radio Four wised me up (no, really...) about what a great show this is. And I'm glad. It pulls all the standard moves you expect from a blockbuster US show - but does it with great style. Compelling characters, strong storylines, plenty of eye-candy for males and females alike, plus some great country music... of which I've never been a fan previously. But it's kind of growing on me. Give it two months, I'll be the one in the rhinestone jacket and ostrich-skin cowboy boots. Y'all come back, y'hear? Steve

I have watched 6 episodes -perhaps, with time, the trivial love and political plots will deepen and darken but beginning to tire of clenching my teeth and fast forwarding the awful country rock and simpering lurve ballads. The characters have perfect teeth and live in big mansions and display the usual behaviour of over priviledged manipulative urban go getters. Two things alarm me..... the thought that I might be missing the point and it's a clever piece of ironic realism (it's meant to be awful cos that world is awful) and that I am beginning to be drawn into it.

Nashville is one of the best quality series to come out over the past decade. It's entertaining, funny, sad, and shares the ups and downs of a host of interesting characters - great acting and attention grabbing scripts. Highly recommended.
